Abstract
This paper proposes a control strategy for an optimum efficiency operation of a synchronous reluctance motor. The reference of the current vector is decided so as to minimize the losses considering both voltage and current constraints. A high-performance current control scheme is also proposed, where the current sensors are eliminated and the simulated currents are used for current control. Several drive tests are carried out and the experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed drive system
