Abstract
In this paper, the Wheeler cap method is implemented numerically in FDTD. The main interest is to characterize the efficiency/loss of a probe-fed low-loss single resonance L-band antenna. We compare the results of the simulations with the gain/directivity method using near-field measurements. Some of the observations and issues of implementing FDTD method for prediction of efficiency using Wheeler cap method are discussed
