Abstract :
At the University of Erlangen-Nuremburg a complete SMT line has been built in a model factory in order to ensure research work and education. With the aid of developed programs, computer-integrated SMT production can be demonstrated, from planning to the diagnosis of processes. In the planning stage the SMT line can be modeled on CAD systems, and the planned processes can be simulated. Line layout, buffer dimensions, and the machine setup of the several mounting devices can be optimized. The control programs for the mounting device which are generated and tested in the planning phase are transferred to the shop floor by the computer-integrated network. The running production programs are supported by a new monitoring concept. By means of the monitoring system, the operator can detect and remove failures much faster and more effectively.<>
