Abstract :
In this paper we investigated the effect of the mushroom like EBG as a ground plane for a wideband diamond dipole antenna. A printed diamond dipole antenna over the EBG surface is designed and fabricated. It is experimentally shown that the interaction between a planar wideband dipole antenna and the metallic vias, compared to a surface without vias, results in poorer radiation patterns
