Abstract :
This paper presents torque control in an wind powered induction generator driven by a variable speed wind turbine using stator flux oriented vector control. To avoid the use of position sensor or flux sensor in a field oriented induction generator system, the terminal quantities are often use to estimate the stator flux. Since the estimation of the stator flux is independent of the leakage, the steady state performance of the stator flux oriented system is insensitive to the leakage inductance. A decoupler is designed to minimize the coupling in the stator flux reference frame and hence the dynamic performance of the system is improved. Results obtained in Matlab/Simulink environment are presented illustrating good control system performance.
