Abstract :
The purpose of the article is to provide a very general survey of the most important electrostatic magnitudes, which occur in all computation schemes. It shows that there is a close association between the physical properties and the geometry of electrostatic systems. The geometry has two aspects. The first is the obvious one of the shape and disposition of the electrodes and insulators. There is also the less obvious inherent geometry of electrostatic fields and this inherent geometry leads to remarkably simple and efficient algorithms
