Abstract
In this paper, the work demands of the dispatchers in centralized centers were investigated. The factors contributing to the work demands were defined preliminarily by specialist workshops and were determined using a series of methods in a field study. The results of our investigation indicate that the total number of trains and frequency of communication are major roles in the total work demands of the dispatchers. Additionally, there are regional distinctions due to the presence of different technologies and network infrastructures.
