Abstract :
A method using space waves to detect the permittivities of media in half space is performed in the laboratory: transmitting a wave with both parallel and perpendicular polarizations simultaneously by a horn and receiving the amplitudes and phases of the specularly reflected waves with each polarization respectively. The experiment is performed in X-band frequency range. The results agree with that by the metal-scaling method. This method is of a value in the practical use
