Abstract :
The author presents a novel, simple, and quite general method of assessing the effects of interference (or any non-white bandpass signal) in an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) (space-to-space) communication channel. The degradation curves due to interference are obtained without the large computation times required in order to get accurate simulation results. Moreover, the computations involved accommodate all signal-to-noise ratios. Only the knowledge of the interference power spectral density and of the receiver´s input bandpass filter (BPF) frequency response is required. The degradation curves thus obtained are compared with conventional simulation results, validating this method. The effect of the receiver´s input BPF bandwidth on error performance is also considered
