  • Abstract
Broadband mapping can be defined as the gathering and presentation of data related to the deployment of broadband. In this paper, the most common broadband mapping types and their roles in political and regulatory context are described. As an example of broadband service mapping, the paper presents the map of broadband availability in Croatia. The importance of the Croatian broadband mapping initiative, in the context of state aid and cost reduction measures for broadband deployment, is pointed out. Also, the data gathering process, the gathered data processing as well as the visualization methodology are explained. Incompleteness of the official address model is identified as one of the main error sources. In spite of that, it is shown that the Croatian broadband availability map is a very important tool which, together with a planned future infrastructure map, should facilitate new investments in NGA networks.
