Abstract :
The author deals with an investigation of the performance of three leading toxicity test protocols in an effort to understand their behaviour and the type of fire conditions that they could address. This was achieved by detailed chemical analysis of the atmospheres produced in the tests and by relating these to more well defined decomposition studies of a range of polymeric cable materials
