Abstract
High field electrical conduction (avalanche current) in poly-p-xylylene (PPX) thin films was discussed from numerical calculations. The theoretical transient model presented includes various terms such as the current injection by tunneling, carrier drift, collision ionization, recombination, carrier trapping and the internal field distortion. The calculated results well explained various properties of the high field current in PPX, i.e. the kinetic response, the applied field dependence and the thickness dependence. The space charge seriously affects the avalanche current. Carrier recombination and carrier trapping are effective for the stabilization of the avalanche current
