Abstract :
Nowadays, multimedia presentations are widespread in many fields. Several applications in different domains have expressed the need to quickly browse them. In this paper, we are concerned, initially, in defining an adequate semantic of VCR interactions for multimedia presentations. Based on this semantic, we propose an approach to improve the responsiveness of applications supporting multimedia presentations. In particular, we focus on a buffer management strategy called CPS (content-based prefetching strategy). We validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach through multiple series of experiments.
