Refurbishment of control and instrumentation systems in power stations in South Africa

There are at present 21 multi-unit coal fired power stations operating in South Africa; this does not include two new power stations under construction each consisting of six units. A program for refurbishing the older power stations is being implemented; one has already been refurbished, a second is in progress, and a minimum of a further eight is being planned. The authors deal with various technical and economical aspects related to refurbishment of power stations in South Africa
