Use of data compression techniques in digital fault recorder

The purpose of the fault recorder is to pick up all events occurring on feeders to be monitored in substations. The fault recorder will then give the history of what happened before, during and after the fault. The authors describe the use of a digital fault recorder system which employs data compression techniques. Results obtained from such a system are also detailed
