Abstract :
Several solutions were proposed to address VoIP security and quality of service in mobile wireless networks. However, the two aspects were approached by the literature independently of each other. The issue becomes more important to address in the context of vehicular adhoc networks where vehicles are highly mobile and the SIP handover procedure may exhibit several security vulnerabilities. This paper proposes a secure and QoS-aware SIP handover scheme for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) in Vehicular Networks. The proposed scheme allows to: a) perform a secure SIP-based handover; b) perform a mutual authentication between vehicles and SIP servers to exchange key material and reduce the delays associated to security overhead during the handovers; and c) guarantee a fair distribution of vehicles among RSUs, reduce the number of handovers, and save RSU res sources. This is achieved by taking into consideration the vehicles speed and direction, and the RSUs signal strength and their resource occupation A simulation is conducted showing the efficiency of the proposed approach in terms of number of executed handovers.
