Abstract
National recorded announcement services are expanding both in number and call volume. In order to improve the efficiency of the British Telecom network and so offer customers a better service, a new overlay network is being provided to distribute such announcements. This network, with its associated switching nodes, interfaces to the derived services network (DSN) and is known as the recorded information distribution equipment (RIDE) network. It has been optimized for carrying the traffic generated by the most popular high volume calls to British Telecom´s managed service and is compatible with any of the DSN charging rates
