Abstract
A low noise oscillator which uses a novel in-line transmission line resonator as the positive feedback element is described. A theory which shows how minimum sideband noise can be obtained from such an oscillator is presented and the degradation of noise performance with circuit parameters is described. An oscillator operating at 1.49 GHz has been built and the measured noise performance shows close agreement with the theory
