Abstract :
Optical and electrical mapping of the heart has provided significant knowledge about normal and pathological cardiac electrophysiology and the mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias and their therapy. This paper will discuss the current state of cardiac mapping, limitations of current techniques that constrain qualitatively new investigations, and potential solutions to technological inadequacies.
