Abstract
The author proposes an AC invertor-fed induction motor drive for fuel pumping in passenger cars. The drive consists of a 2-phase invertor and a 2-phase squirrel cage induction motor with balanced stator windings. Its advantages are discussed and its performance compared with typical permanent magnet DC motors. An indication of cost, weight and volume of the 2-phase drive are given
