Abstract :
The Link-to-System (L2S) Level Interface models play a crucial role in the wireless system evaluations, and the design of cross layer simulation. A number of novel approaches have been suggested for consideration of the next generation of mobile communications. However, there has been no agreement on a generic multi-functional approach as a link to system interface for future wireless systems. There are mainly two mapping metrics have been brought forward, which are Exponential Effective SINR Mapping (EESM) model and Mutual Information Effective SINR Mapping (MIESM) model. These algorithms are able to deal with instantaneous channel realizations as an averaging method, like when techniques such as OFDM multiplexing are considered. However, this paper investigates and elaborates these mapping models for the Long Term Evolution (LTE) system in term of their accuracy. In addition, the effect of different bandwidth schemes of the LTE system on the accuracy prediction of these mapping models are also evaluated. The results show that the accuracy of the models are very good for the small bandwidth schemes and the low modulation and coding schemes (MCS) and it decreases as long as large bandwidth schemes and high modulation and coding schemes are applied.
