Abstract :
Describes a novel adaptive equalizer, BPE (equalizer by using the backpropagation algorithm). The main difference is a novel network structure and the inclusion of a nonlinear operator, the so called squashing function. A novel adaptive channel equalizer is presented based on the backpropagation algorithm applied to an associative network. Simulations are made for linear and nonlinear channels. The performance is shown to be good and much better than with the LMS algorithm for the nonlinear channel
