Abstract :
A description is given of the CE (concurrent engineering) testbed, a novel approach for developing concurrent engineering systems which provides an effective vehicle for building pilot CE systems quickly and eliciting detailed problem specifications from the intended users. A CE testbed includes a carefully documented collection of pilot product development activities, detailed scenarios exercising significant transactions within those activities, concurrent demonstrations of the transactions and supporting tools, an information system framework for integrating the tools, and what-if environments for exploring design or development options
