  • Abstract
This paper presents a power line conditioner using an improved adaptive predictive filter for voltage regulation, reactive power compensation, and harmonic filtering in electric power distribution systems. The filter can be used as an integral part of control system of a power line conditioner to generate the desired reference signal. And a novel synchronous switching technology is proposed to avoid switching transients during the switching of the power line conditioner into and out of the power system. Simulations and experimental results show the excellent harmonic filtering and reactive power compensation performance of the proposed topology while keeping the system highly reliable and cost effective
