Abstract :
Buried oil pipe third party damage (TPD) source location affected by the propagation mode characteristic and noise, a method to locate the pipe damaging source based on empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is presented. Through EMD analysis, TPD signals are decomposed into a series of IMF, each of which covers a specific frequency band, then select a few useful intrinsic mode function (IMF) by feature of power, finally locate the TPD source by using cross-correlation method. The EMD is an adaptive frequency dividing and has some advantages compared to wavelet packet. When pipe detecting distance is 90m in refinery, experiment results show that the proposed method improves the location accuracy and gains good performance
