General diffraction-free fields produced by computer-generated holograms

Diffraction-free beams are peculiar physical wavefields that are finding an increasing number of applications. The authors demonstrate that useful approximations to various types of diffraction-free beams may be generated by means of computer holography. They also show that the properties of these reconstructed wavefields may be analysed efficiently by the method of stationary phase
