Abstract :
The regulations concerning electrical installations on railways stipulate a minimum contact wire height of 4.8 m. This clearance is to be maintained at the highest temperature, at the highest track position and taking into due account of contact wire oscillations. The authors look at the use of a rigid beam instead of a wire for the overhead line. Only the track bed tolerances, the effect of peaks and throughs, the mounting tolerances of the rail and the wear and tear of the collector
