Microsoft Office Word is the most commonly used document writing software in Chinese college and university. It is very difficult for e-learning user to comply with every regular document format specification via traditional ways. In this paper, a MS Word format checker tool based on office automation technology is proposed. The format checker could custom word format template according to different requirements. Using the Word object model and Excel object model, the checker could batch check a group of Word documents and export the check result as Excel. Practice has proved that the format checker could save the students´ document writing time and teachers´ document check time greatly, and make the students pay more attention to the learning content. Further, the format checker could become an enhancement function part of the e-learning system.
