  • Abstract
The authors design the best windings for an electric machine, which can provide a radial force. They include a presentation of the mathematical method for computing the radial force: the formula of the magnetic pressure over the airgap is modified to use the Fourier distribution of the equivalent airgap currents. The final force is obtained by summing the harmonics. An irregular airgap can be taken into account. The radial force is then computed with various windings, or rotor eccentricity. The influence of the commutation from one coil to the next (discrete distribution of airgap currents) to obtain a revolving force, is also computed
