Abstract
A technique is being developed which will allow the detection and identification of specific faults within 3-phase induction motors during the starting transient. At present a very detailed and complex analysis is used to detect faults requiring the use of a mainframe computer. It is anticipated that once sufficient test data has been obtained this analysis will be dramatically reduced, allowing a stand alone instrument to be designed
