Abstract
Presently, a rotating Arno power converter is being used to drive the auxiliary motors inside 25 kV AC locomotives. A GTO based single-phase to three-phase static power converter has been developed to give a balanced three-phase AC supply for feeding auxiliary loads, in spite of wide voltage variations in the overhead catenary supply. This paper presents the salient features of the development, which was successfully tested inside an actual locomotive
