  • Abstract
The loads to which electrical machines and coupled equipment can be subjected have been described. Appreciation of these loads and an understanding of the torsional characteristics of the coupled system as a whole is essential to the satisfactory performance of the equipment. Modern design aids can assist in identification of possible problem areas in system behaviour and the effects of proposed solutions can be assessed rapidly and effectively
