  • Abstract
Telecom Australia has a range of options available to provide telecommunication services to customers in rural and remote areas by adopting transmission oriented solutions in combination with the replacement or extension of existing crossbar switching equipment using the AXE-104 and remote multiplexing units. A brief summary is given of a number of possible configurations. The AXE-104 offers flexibility in planning as it does not depend on the availability of digital transmission for interworking with existing analogue switches, yet is able to connect to the ISDN
