Abstract
A composite control of flexible structures is designed according to a multirate time strategy. The main control concerns the slow dynamics while fast control damps the high frequency modes. Both controllers are designed by using the predictive functional control technique. The frequency separation hypothesis on which the control design is based, turns out to be less restrictive for applications. Performance and robustness properties of the proposed design are illustrated through simulation results. The strategy appears to be very robust against parameter variations
