Abstract :
The authors report on some of the results of the Atmospheric project within the RACE programme. RACE stands for R&D in Advanced Communications technologies in Europe and is an European Commission sponsored programme aimed at the introduction of integrated broadband communications by 1995. The Atmospheric project is exploring switching and multiplexing techniques appropriate to each stage of evolution in the transition to full ATM
