In the society reigned by the logic of signs, product semantic expression definitely facilitates the promotion of the product itself largely. As an industry product, tableware is no exception in application of semantic expression. This paper analyses the five major aspects of the semantic expression in tableware design, which are shape semantic, color semantic, material semantic, emotion semantic and culture semantic. Moreover, this paper projects more accurately the in-depth signification hidden in the customer consciousness and sub-consciousness, such as psychology, culture, society, environment and so on to the shape of the tableware. Consequently, it echoes with users´ perception and appreciation.
