Abstract
The authors propose a hyper-distributed ATM switching system, where small capacity ATM switches are separately allocated in a central switching module (CSM), and every ATM switch is connected to all the front-end processing modules (FPMs) with call processing functions. Call processing such as inter-module routing and virtual channel handling in the proposed architecture is also described
