Abstract
The transmission behavior of a head core is investigated experimentally. The frequency dependent complex efficiency has been measured via the impedance of the head. This method employs the assumption of approximative linearity of the head core magnetization under read process conditions. The determined contribution of the head core to the magnitude spectrum is negligible. The phase contribution adds asymmetry to the read pulse. A model is used for the analysis of the recording system with ring type head. Its application to finite pole length head type systems suggests itself. In addition it is conceivable to use the approach for the design of optimum magnetization distributions in multilayer media
