Abstract :
This paper presents a digital FIR filter for compensating the frequency response caused by the D/A´s zero order hold (ZOH) characteristics at no cost of additional hardware. The FIR compensation filter is designed using the frequency sampling method. This FIR filtering is shown to adequately correct the ZOH´s frequency response by the simulation results and by the DSP hardware implementation. The compensation filtering is shown to be an effective method of correcting the limitations introduced by the DSP hardware without increasing the sampling rate and without introducing the phase distortion
