Remote meter reading, load control and distribution system automation utilising SWD technology

The authors discuss the application of sequential waveform distortion (SWD) technology and products in the power system. The main features of the SWD system are: remote meter reading and load control of individual customers; automatic electricity fraud detection; automatic customer load surveys; integration of remote water and gas meter reading; control and monitoring of distribution system automation devices, such as regulators, reclosers, shunt capacitor, and protection devices; and vast feeder and customer database management.
