Abstract
A method is introduced in this paper for computer simulation of the random workload of a base station for mobile communications. The workload of a base station is characterised by state parameters, such as the number of subscribers and number of mobile phones currently in communication with services provided by the base station, etc. For given estimates of the state parameters, truncated normal distributions are used to generate random samples to construct the random state parameter model for the workload of the base station. The method is implemented by developing C++ codes on a PC platform. Using the codes, a numerical simulation experiment is performed on an indicative model to demonstrate the application of the method
