Abstract :
Congestion control mechanism was studied widely in the TCP environment to keep the stability of the whole network. Active queue management algorithms employed in routers is an important issue focused by researchers in the congestion control study. Many AQM algorithms are proposed for early detection of congestion in TCP network. In this paper a new AQM algorithm, LIRED proposed by developing packet drop probability function based on linear interpolation method and compared with some AQM algorithms by considering important performance parameters. Simulations show that proposed AQM algorithm performs better in the bursty network traffic.
