Abstract :
A very efficient and flexible method for the identification of L-M parameters of electrical machines based on the finite element method is presented. The spatial dependency of the mutual inductances is determined and the Fourier analysis is then used to separate their spatial harmonics components. They are used for steady-state and transient analysis of currents in the windings and the damper bars of a synchronous machine under normal and fault operating conditions. The graphic interface being used for the input of windings structure makes the program easy to use even by the less experienced personnel. The fundamentals of the method and the numerical results are presented
