Abstract :
Under the policies´ support and government incentives, wind power has seen a dramatic increase both in the size of wind turbines and the amount of wind power generation these years. Therefore, it is very important to understand the degree to which the conventional generation system can withstand the wind power and new changes on the performance of grid brought by the integration of wind power, especially on the profile of voltage and transient stability. By simulation, this paper will give a case-based analysis on the wind power penetration limit from a new perspective of different network contingence as well as a general conclusion. This paper is also extended to include analysis of the inherent variability on the profile of voltage and transient stability associated with wind power by placing different network contingences, fault locations and wind power output using static and dynamic methods respectively. Studies are conducted on a practically power system of some area in China.
