Abstract
The perceived drawbacks to simulation are :(a) the time taken to program the problem, and (b) the time taken to run it. The first is a major problem despite the proliferation of specialised simulation languages. The second is receding with the advances being made in processor performance and the availability of fast RISC-based singleboard computers to accelerate the running of software on standard PCs. The paper describes the development of a description language (an extension of RDL) to simplify the problem identified in (a) above
