Abstract
An important task in image analysis systems is the segmentation process. It consists of the partition of an image into a set of elementary regions characterized by the fact that some property is constant. The authors present a fractal based method for texture segmentation. The algorithm includes three important parts: optimal window size estimation, model parameters estimation and image segmentation by means of a divisive scheme over the feature histograms (parameters)
