Abstract :
Ultrasonic measurement was performed on single-crystal La2(1-x)Sr2xCuO4 (x=0.06) from 4.2 K to 300 K with emphasis on the anomalies near the superconducting transition, Tc, of 11 K and the structural phase transition, Td, of 251 K. A longitudinal wave was propagated parallel to the Cu-O plane. The sound velocity decreased gradually down to Td on cooling from room temperature. A large discontinuity of sound velocity from 5.2×10 3 m/s to 3.2×103 m/s was observed just at Td. The discontinuity of sound velocity at Tc was not found within the present resolution of ΔV/V≈10-6
