Abstract :
Waveguides for a terahertz quantum cascade laser (THz-QCL) using a GaSb/AlSb (or AlGaSb) material system were designed. High optical confinement and low loss propagation were achieved with a simple fabrication process and low costs by using a GaAs substrate and by optimizing carrier densities in contact layers.
