Abstract
A method to calculate the synchronizing and damping torque coefficients was implemented on a personal computer and the experimental investigation was conducted on a laboratory system to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Results show that the performances of the proposed method are reasonably good. It is confirmed that the method can be used for monitoring the power system dynamic and steady-state stabilities on-line, only by using the data easily obtained from the generator and without knowing any information about the whole system. The calculated data could help the system planner to predict the stability for a future system
