Abstract :
This paper proposes compact novel multi-band solid inverted-F antenna (SIFA) for mobile telephone applications. Generally the planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) is often made an internal element by using metal conductor sheet. The studied antenna configuration is different to general PIFA. Usually single-core wire is used to construct internal radiator of which the impedance bandwidth is often constricted. The novel radiator has good impedance bandwidth ratio up to 33 percent. It is operated at triple-bands, Bluetooth (2.4 GHz), Unlicensed Nil - 5 GHz UNII-1 (5.125 ~ 5.25 GHz), and UNII-2 (5.25 ~ 5.35 GHz). The total volume of the SIFA is 30 (L) x 5 (H) x 0.2 (W) mm, so the manufacture is much easier. The compact configuration requirement as well as good electric characteristics of wide-band can be achieved.
